Biography

EXPERIENCE

Lisa Krakow became a mediator in 2002, after practicing employment law for more than ten years. Her mediation practice specializes in the area of her substantive expertise. Consequently, she is able quickly to gauge the legal landscape of each case and assess the strengths and weaknesses of the parties’ positions. In addition to her legal acumen, Ms. Krakow is an attentive listener with strong process and interpersonal skills. She prepares intensively for each case and works diligently to reach resolution.

Ms. Krakow’s neutrality as a mediator is underscored by the balance of her prior litigation experience — equal time representing plaintiffs and defendants. Prior to launching her mediation practice, Ms. Krakow was Of Counsel at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP, a national law firm known for its premier Employment Law department. At Paul Hastings, Ms. Krakow represented a broad spectrum of employers, including retail stores, biotechnology companies, banks, investment and insurance firms, computer companies and entertainment businesses. Before that, Ms. Krakow devoted five years to plaintiff-side employment law.

Having represented both plaintiffs and employers in a wide variety of employment matters, including sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful discharge, retaliation, and whistleblowing, Ms. Krakow is uniquely situated to understand the legal issues, nuances and competing emotions that permeate employment disputes, and to propose creative solutions for resolving them short of potentially destructive and always costly litigation.
